I would donate an organ in exchange for a pair of COMFORTABLE black flats. I just can’t find them.

What about coats, raincoats, umbrellas, etc...?

To resume, elegance is in simple things. About the 4 questions, that's what I usually think when i go shopping, so i go home with empty hands (or my impulse is stronger than me and i buy things that i can wear just a couple of times). Great video!! Oh, and thanks for that thing you said about jeans, i didn't know. I always preferred light jeans, but next time I'll go for the darker (:

10 lol. American here, I never follow trends, my style goes from "punk rock ballerina" to "preppy hippie".

My mom always called me 'frenchie' and until watching your videos I never fully grasped her reference to the French way of life until stumbling upon your channel. I simply adore you! Your content is incredibly useful💚thank you

At first I was so confused when you were saying "clear jeans" and "clear shoes." Who wears see through pants and shoes? Then I remembered that "bleu clair" in french means light blue and it made a lot more sense.

Great videos , thank you!!! I have a question - capsual wardrobe and minimalism - what french womans thinking about it? :)

Hm...well maybe this is why so many people think I look/dress French. I never wear flats though...I’m too short to pull that off.

I scored an 8! White button-down, blazer, black dress, turtleneck sweaters, dark blue jeans, huge scarf, purse for everything, black heels. I’m an American so I have a slightly different esthetic. What do you think sets French fashion items and French fashion mindset apart from other nations? For example, Americans are more likely to have staples like a clean cut jean jacket and cashmere pullovers and thick-heeled ankle boots. What do you think of the differences?
Nazrin Nasimi (23 days ago)
you are so super
Dena Whisler (23 days ago)
I’m French, Irish, Spanish (Spain) and I have 9 of the pieces. I despise turtleneck anything. Would a little looser ‘cowl’ work in your opinion? I have a couple of the smaller ‘cowl’ neck sweaters and a lovely double breasted garnet red wool raised weave (mono color) with a collar that I turn up .
Crystal Ward (23 days ago)
I go with a simple red dress instead of black because red looks better on me. I don't think the colour matters as much as the fit and quality.

Continue ton excellent travail.
Merci et bonnes fêtes!

Assuming that you don't have any of those pieces, which item to buy would be a good starting point? 😄 Thank you, good video
Je suis français j'ai 3 de ces habits 😂 en même temps je n'ai pas l'âge pour les talons
Les derbbies (ou les autres chaussures d'homme dans ce genre) sont une jolie alternative aux ballerines pour moi 😊

I don't own any T shirts and Turtle neck garments. As an inverted triangle body shape with a big buttom is not easy for me to find a good T shirt :( and turtlenecks are out of my list. I am 5' 2 with very thick calves so I can't find any good boots that fit and go with my body shape for this winter or any other winter

I am from every country when it comes to my wardrobe! I have a French wardrobe for sure. But then I have a preppy wardrobe, and a glamorous wardrobe, and a casual chic wardrobe. I could go on because I have an obscene amount of clothing. This would help me to get rid of some things. But, there is not one thing I own at this point that I would not have worn 10 years ago and that I wouldn't wear in 10 years. As soon as I found out what that looks good on me, I just kept purchasing. I think that may be the American way, unfortunately. Fortunate for those fast fashion houses, which disgust me. I have an entire wardrobe of ethical clothing at this point. Also, I have gotten rid of all clothing with logos whether it be from Chanel, LV, or Steven Abercrombie. Yes, I did shop at Abercrombie once upon a Time.

I love your last 4 tips! I live by those! I rather spend my money on high quality pieces I love and know will last rather than buying a piece that is cheap, will lose color and shape with in 2 washes

How about a leather jacket? Should it be fitted, or loose & sloppy (like the female property of a Hell's Angels). Should it be black? What are good brands?

Same as in the US. Nothing "French," about it. I have dressed this way for years.

Justine, I love your videos. I would love to dress this way. Unfortunately, I am 5'1" with a 41" bust!!! Is there a way that my figure could look any way as elegant as these models do. I try to dress simply, without too much fuss, frills etc. But still not achieving the look. Any ideas would be appreciated . Keep up the good work xx

You hit the nail on the head and I never use soap I have had clothes for over 40 years in good shape I use ammonia very lightly in the wash water and gently washed everything inside out at times I put things in laundry bags so I will not get any rubble from other items in the wash but yes it is possible to have a turtleneck last 45 years if it is purchased well
Beverley Bakker (3 months ago)
Although I agree with your chic styling Justine, I get bored having so few colours/ patterns to wear. I like to vary so have many clothes.

Justine Leconte officiel all: buying the classics and quality clothes out of luck of western design products and total poverty. Wearing jackets and blazers and comfortable hills because ALL Soviet women were working AND using public transportation. Every day ,each season . Using accessories to change the look every day . The Dark classic denim and black color were typical . French Lancôme cosmetics were a MUST for all who were trying to look stylish in 70- 80 s . And in Soviet Union we had our own line of good quality perfumes ( RED Moscow ) , or some products from Riga , Latvian republic . Our hairstylists are still the best in the world . We were lucking the cheap junk clothing back then , but people were sawing and crocheting their own clothes , using magazines like Siluette from Estonia and then Burda . Check out some old photos and you will be surprised how elegant RUSSIAN women looked without hardly any access to any western brands and products back then. Actually , when I visit Paris in1997 I felt like I was back in Soviet times , with some slight adjustments ( we did not have that many people from Africa and Asia back in 70-80 , and we did not see so “abnormally” rich looking women on the streets in Chanel ) .

I think the model at 1:15 that you use sometimes is very bad looking. She looks tired and angry and her body looks awful in clothes and the clothes are simply terrible. It looks sloppy and like they came from a garbage can. Sorry but this is the truth. I am being honest. I love your channel but this model is terrible

Scarfs are fine when it's cold other then that what's the point. They look stupid.
eileenfb1948 (3 months ago)
I look really white and washed out when I wear black or gray. Even navy blue or a denim jacket can have that effect. Do you have suggestions of what colour to wear instead of black?
eileenfb1948 (3 months ago)
You’re right it is a lovely colour. Thank you.

I'm not a fashion expert, but I think a rich chocolate brown looks good on many people. It's warmer than dark blue, or black.

Locate a Goodwill, Salvation Army, or other thrift store, in a more affluent area of your city. The classics, so well made years ago, and hard to find now, end up there, for pennies on the dollar. The nicest things i own now, wool gabardines, coats, have come from those stores, because they just arent made much anymore. Have even found great white blouses, although t shirts are few and far between, esp. white. Best finds: $800 Shamask cut on bias lucious hot pink silk dress, like new. New with tags, Brooks Bros. linen skirt suit. New Pendleton slacks suit- modern design. An Hermes silk scarf, authentic, Longchamp purses, floor length black wool belted Calvin Klein coat. NO RAYON, etc. Amazing stuff.

Dear Justine, I just happened upon your videos and am enjoying them immensely. I wanted to put in my two centimes, as a former professional ballet dancer, I lived in pointe shoes for over three decades and wear a size 41 shoe or in the USA a 9.5, so high heels OUT, pointy toes NO WAY; I should add that I have had four surgeries on my feet, and can no longer wear a loafer(moccasin), a pump or any fully enclosed shoe i.e.: a spectator. My solution has been to wear boots that are half boot/half sandal the back is open as is the toe area(it's very sexy in its own way)the collar/shaft of the boot is about the height of my ankle, so all the cut-outs are like a sexy little dress with cut-outs. I require a stable base so I look for a heel that is a graceful wedge or a squared semi-chunky heel of 2.5" or 6.3 cm if there is a bit of a platform I can wear a 3.25" or 8.25 cm heel. Let's face it nothing gives a woman a more beautiful pitch to the derrière than a high heel. I hope this tip can help other people with foot issues. I have found a few brands of boots(yes I can wear a boot)that work with my high instep and problematic feet: Arche(made in France sold at Nordstrom and a few other places in America, Aquatalia(very fine, well-made boots from Italy also sold at Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Donald J. Pliner (made in Italy and Spain). Lest you think I am rich think again, I buy almost all of the above on eBay or other secondary market sites, once you know how the high-end shoes, boots, clothes fit and which styles work for you(there is a little homework involved)you are then able to pay as little as ten to twenty cents on the dollar for the finest footwear. I always keep wood shoe trees in mine or at the very least use tightly packed newspaper not only maintain the shape but to absorb moisture and if they are suede, brush them regularly with an appropriate suede brush.

Having lived in France and Italy, I have to say that the Italians are much more fashionable than the French. Unfortunately, France has lost its chic style and many of my French friends notice this too.

Excellent ! Truly the best choice! ( The chosen photo aren't CONSISTENT WITH your 3RD POINT! (will it go out of fashion??)- Also, these models look everything but chic! i.e. the first blazer ! It might be chic, but in the photo the woman looks (and stands) like a hobo!! The bluejeans + the scarf photos are QUITE okay though. You're probably making these videos with the "américaines" in mind, therefore your choice of photographs. But even so, it wouldn't harm americans to get to see proper chic! So, could you choose some more flattering photographs, instead of "wanna be rockstar" ones?? More like yourself! mwah! :-*
