i live in Paris, and the most disgusting thing the french woman does, is SMOKE like a chimney , this is how they stay thin ! ...i use to think, they were so much more evolved than the american woman, but now i see how they smoke so much, and have no fear of losing their medical insurance, because in France you can't get " dropped " for risky behaviors ..like smoking , instead ..they just increase my payroll taxes to pay for all their cancer treatments ...
Elea Malmouche (28 days ago)
I am french and i like this video but i find it slightly incorect i mean if you’re talking about jeanne damas yes but she is one parisien women so yeah that’s my opinion
Brianna Lamberson (27 days ago)
Hey there! I agree with you. Thanks so much for sharing your opinion. I really value it. <3 Glad you're here. When I made this video, I never thought so many people would see it. A blessing for sure, but I've learned a lot about how to move forward with my thoughts in a more accurate way. I would love to know more about your style. How would you describe your style? XO, Bri
Mary LaFrance (29 days ago)
they don't eat crossants and bagettes all day. They eat fruits and veggies and they cook from scratch every day. They walk everywhere. I just returned from living in Germany 2 years and see the same pattern except Germans like to eat Wurst. And yes the Minimilist lifestyle is very dominant from fashion to food. so interesting compared to the USA.
Brianna Lamberson (27 days ago)
Hey Mary! I know they don't. haha - it's hyperbole. But it's funny how we in the U.S. have such a made up view of what Parisians are really like. I love learning about French culture and how real French women live. That's so cool that you lived in Germany! Where abouts did you live? When I was kid, I spent time in Koln. Loved being exposed to European culture. <3 Thanks for being here! Bri

europeans are not obsessed with plastic surgery like stupid americans i miss europe alot need to move back
Brianna Lamberson (27 days ago)
Hey there Brooke! Americans aren't stupid. Some people are not wise, some are foolish. Koreans for example have the highest rates of plastic surgery in the world. I wouldn't consider them stupid. Personally, I'll never get facial plastic surgery! haha Where did you live in Europe? It's my dream to move back as well. Glad you're here - keep coming back! Bri

Bon jour! So happy I found your channel. You look radiant!!! Your skin looks so healthy. Your eyes are bright and clear. Eyebrows to die for!!! I'm married to a sweet, sweet man whose family came from Quebec and both sides of his family are large (10 plus sibs) and lovely French Canadian people. They love their family passionately. Their faith is the foundation of who they are. And, ( I know I'm not supposed to start a sentence with AND), they are beautiful. Such pride in their appearance, their homes, their joy for life is captivating! I look around at young girls and women and the uniform of the day is leggings, t-shirts or a sweatshirt, and slippers. Don't forget the big Dunkin drink they're slurping on and gettin' fatter and fatter. Why aren't people taking charge of themselves. GET OUT OF THE PACK!!! Honestly, it's so distressing to look around at the American culture. I'm obsessed with the French! Happy to find your channel.
Brianna Lamberson (27 days ago)
Bon jour Courtney! Your lovely comment has made my day! I've had a few really awful comments on here about my eyebrows that I've had to delete. It's a bummer, but then there are comments like yours that redeem my faith in human decency. Your husband's family sounds lovely in every way. (And) you're right! It is such a contrast to what many young girls are doing these days. Tragic! I'm happy you found my channel too. It's great to connect with fellow Francophiles! Let me know if there are any other videos you would like for me to make in this same vein. Xo, Bri
My friend grew up in a French family, he says that the reason they don't get fat, is because they don't eat!
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Meaning the starve themselves or they don't overeat?
Sophia Kat (1 month ago)
Hi! I would like to ask what skin care brands do you recommend?
Brianna Lamberson (27 days ago)
Hi there! I would say start with healing the skin from within. Not sure what your daily routine is now so forgive me if you're already doing some of this stuff. First, I would start with 1 liter of water in the morning. Probiotics are great for healing the skin. Maybe even consider taking a hair, skin, and nails supplement with collagen. This will really help with the healing of your skin. The fewer products you use on your skin the better. Just let it do it's thing and heal up. Tell more more about your skin care routine and lifestyle now if you want. Would love to help out more! XO, Bri

Americans either dress up way too much or not at all like you can see them going to the supermarket in thongs and sloppy clothes I’ve wondered sometimes if they slept in it . I think French women dress beautifully but with all the access of great skin products there faces look very old ! I don’t think there is anything fancy on that . Yes they are comfortable with that, yes they are thin , yes they are elegant without looking like they made a lot of effort . But then it’s sad to see their pale faces it just ruins everything to my taste .
Sharon Damongeot (1 month ago)
Hi Brianna, I am of American origin , raised in Central America and have been married to a French for 18 years . I’ve been living in France for 10 years. I think that French women should put just a little make up it would give them a fresh face look . I also believe they are obsessed with getting some sun on their faces . I asked a very chic french lady on this matter and she said it gave them an image like they just arrived from a vacation from another country or south of France . ( surpring for me to hear, since the thought had never crossed my mind). Speaking of another subject . Now that I travel to the US it always brings to my attention the way Americans eat , they can be very loud french people are very well mannered and speak softly in a general manner ! Culture shocks ...we need to absorb the best of every culture we know .
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Hey there Sharon! Do you live in France? Are you French? So curious about your take on French style. Yes. I think that because so many people in France smoke, it's impossible to rely on skin care to fix that. Glad you're here! Keep coming back. Bri
S E (1 month ago)
Very big difference between Paris and France. You’re describing Parisian style
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
I think you're so right about that! <3 Do you live in Paris? Curious to know more. XO, Bri
Fleur (1 month ago)
Being European & spending so much time living & being in France definitely gives you a little edge in my opinion! I adore the natural look, it’s very freeing............On saying this, it’s very much about beautiful smells, parfumerie’s everywhere, makeup but using sparingly! And jewellery being limited, not a ring on every finger! Less is more. But the downside is they smoke, lot’s & lot’s, everywhere!
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Hey Fleur! I think the show is on Amazon Prime if you have access to that. It's a good drama ;-) That's so cool that you lived there for so long. Yay! Have you seen the YouTube channel "Not Even French"? It's pretty cute. And Jay Swanson? He's amazing. Anyhow, I am American by birth. Scottish, German, (mixed bag of other things). What about you?
Fleur (1 month ago)
Brianna Lamberson Thank you, no I haven’t seen the programme. Are you American? You love all things French! I lived over there on & off for 9 years, but have spent a lot of time there. 💚
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Love your name Fleur! Have you seen the Forsyth Saga on Masterpiece (BBC)? One of the characters is called Fleur. Yes, I agree with you. Being both European is quite special. I love the US but there is something about the history and the way the cities are structured, the flow of life is so very different! One thing the US is doing a better job on is the decrease in smoking. ;-)

I don't get it - what's the obsession with French women? No disrespect intended, they're lovely. However - I lived in Paris for close to a year after high school and the family I lived with was just normal. "Maman" was a delightful woman in her early thirties who was about 25 pounds overweight - she was often "en regime" - on a diet, that is. She frequently bemoaned the fact that French people are always going out to dinner. She did have a nice classic style for sure, but not that different from the style of Americans, Brits, Germans, and Scandinavians of the same income class. And walking around Paris, taking the metro, whatever - you see plenty of French women with no style and poor taste, too. It's a mixed bag like anywhere. Anyway, just saying.
fofiax (1 month ago)
Well that is true. Not everyone can be stylish since people do differ in tastes even if they are French. But when I compare the people in Paris to the people in Texas, the fashion difference is vast. People really don’t care here at all and have a bad sense of fashion (in my eyes). While not all French women dress well like the media portrays, they do dress “better” than their American counterparts- or at least Texan ones.
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Hey Stephanie! Thanks for sharing your story about being in France. I would that there are "normal" people everywhere you go. I agree with that. But the style of each of the places you mentioned are very unique and distinct. As well as the style philosophy of each country. What I particularly love about French style is that it is classic, easy-going, and flirty without being overly sexy. Having lived in Germany, I can say that their style philosophy is similar but different. And the same with Scandi's who love more cutting edge, trendy looks. And here's the thing about the U.S. There are more people here who wear yoga pants or pajamas to school than there are people in France! haha - ;-) Anyhow, love that you're here! Keep coming back! Bri

I live in Paris and I think what you are describing is more the 1960s/70s French vibe
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
You totally right! I think now though there are a handful of influencers who have created clothing lines that really harken back to that 70's vibe.
Cristinact (1 month ago)
There are many French womenat my workplace and believe me, they do not, I repeat DO NOT dress like this at all.
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
I hear you! Good style is usually a subset anyways no matter where you go. How do the women you work with dress?
Ekim Yazici (1 month ago)
French ladies (Parisian) are skinny mainly because of their stressful jobs and the competition to keep said job is a real battle. You probably would not be happy. But be thankful you are pretty and thin just like one of them.
Ekim Yazici (1 month ago)
+Brianna Lamberson Hello and thank you for your response. İ live in Turkey where most people smoke; both men & women. İ happened to marry into a family of people with baby skin. My sister-in-law smokes like a chimney, and her brother used to do the same before he stopped a few years ago. Their skin at the age of ~ 55 still looks very young. İ smoked, but only for a couple of years of my life and İ look older than they do. İt's a DNA thing. But even though İ know smoking is bad for you (only because of the nicotine, otherwise it's completely safe), the life will eventually end no matter what age you are. So eat, drink, and be happy for tomorrow we die (@ any age). Peace out.
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Yes, I've been learning a lot about the French lifestyle and it has it's benefits and it's drawbacks. I like that they walk a lot, don't restrict their diet too much, and eat at the same times every day. I do not agree with the smoking however! It is SO bad for you and it really does confuse me why so many French people are ok with it. But hopefully, that aspect of their culture will change over time.
Fleur (1 month ago)
Ekim Yazici The true reason they are as you said ‘skinny’ is they smoke very heavily, unfortunately! They actually eat, but they don’t over eat!

Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Hey Kristine! I totally agree with you. And it's something I would like to explore more in my work. We need to stop comparing ourselves to each other and focus on our own unique beauty. Are you American? Where are you from and what is your opinion about beauty? Anyhow, glad you're here! Keep coming back. XO, Bri

Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Happy Monday Sarah! I love that topic idea of maintaining simple, effortless style and dressing true to your style. I will for sure make a video on that. Where are you on your simple living and minimalist journey?
Sarah Coons (2 months ago)

But I'm always interested on any topics concerning maintaining simple, effortless style, and knowing how to identify and stay true to your style without getting sucked in by trends! I'm on a simple living and minimalist journey and am trying to pare back on many things.

Jane Birkin is English (ethnically, and she was brought up in England)
Brianna Lamberson (2 months ago)
Totally! Yes, I know. However, what is so amazing about her, and it sounds like you know this, is that she became *the* French It girl without even being French. Basically, why I love her. She's the best of both worlds. <3 Bri

Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Good point - thanks for sharing!
JBO2493 (2 months ago)
Brianna Lamberson Being a star IN France and being a French icon are not the same thing. JB has always traded on her ‘Englishness’ to market herself to French audiences and does so to this day. Ask a French person whether shes a ‘french’ icon, they’ll probably laugh at you.
Brianna Lamberson (2 months ago)
Totally agree A G - thanks for looking out!
Brianna Lamberson (2 months ago)
Absolutely correct. I know that she's English but so admire how she became the original French It girl without even being French. As I said in an above comment, she's the best of both worlds: English and French. Which I totally respect. Thanks for looking out though! You're awesome.

I see that you have on makeup...cheeks, lips, mascara and glowing skin underneath...for me that is the loveliest look of all. I also liked your shoes...flats but they are pretty. What I see on videos of people on the street though and sitting in cafes, French women, I am sorry but I am not impressed. Completely NO makeup on skin no features looking their best and all black or dark colorless clothing (grey etc) is very draining on skin over 35...in winter one looks sick. I went through the phase of not any makeup whatsoever in my 20's....when I see photos of me then I cringe as I look like I had cancer. A touch of makeup, NOT piled on like too many American women and British girls do this too to go out at night. Also too much bling in clothing... I think both extremes of nothing at all as was popular when I was young in the 60's and today's overdone look in the US are not as nice as your look...a much prettier look....
spoly 813 (1 month ago)
French women all wear makeup but a minimal amount. They apply it so sparingly that it appears they wear nothing but red lipstick. That is the point of it...they want you to notice them not the makeup. I think American women are very heavy handed with the makeup. You don't see them at all under all the layers of glop.
Brianna Lamberson (2 months ago)
Oh, thank you, Sybil! Yes, I hear you. There is a fine balance of natural yet no totally undone. And you're very kind. I think my background in holistic health has led me to believe in simple but luscious makeup that doesn't harm the skin! Any makeup tips you'd like to share with us? XO, Bri

tothe point (1 month ago)
+Romina Cruz no one is ugly you're just able to see your beauty, maybe you're trying too hard to reach some standards of beauty you made-up yourself in your mind. And because of that you don't understand that you are beautiful in your Own way, a way that no other can be. ( sorry if I made a mistake in my sentences)

Interesting take on things. I highly recommend an all organic, all natural make-up and skin care routine. I've been using natural and organic products since I was 22. I'll be 34 next week and I feel better than ever, my skin is more healthy and I feel strong. Castor oil is great for regrowing lost hair and eye lashes. XO, Bri
cloud y (3 months ago)
+Brianna Lamberson I used to take time for make up and besides I was good at arts, but then I realised that my eyelashes seemed to fall and the skin dried. Now I invest in special soap, cleaner and cream. The human body is very delicate, specially when we become adults.

Hello, I am from Holland but I've been living in France now for 40 years and I became a real French woman, as you I was a Francophile so I went to Paris in 1978 as an au pair girl and I decided to stay in France ! I'll never regret ! Sorry for my bad English ! Many kind greetings from Brittany ( Bretagne! ) Marie :-)
Marie (3 months ago)
+Brianna Lamberson : No women at that time were elegant , we wore trousers with elegant "blouses" and elegant sweaters, no shocking colours, very long hair, I wore often the "Audrey Hepburn" style which I adored (and I still do ) skirts just under the knees with black stockings and ballerinas ..... sexy elegant !!!!!!
Brianna Lamberson (3 months ago)
Hi Marie! You're a woman after my own heart. I'm very jealous that you were in Paris in the 70's. What was the fashion like at that time? Did women dress like Diana Ross and Jane Birkin? Your English is great. No apologies needed! Bisous, Bri

Tiffy Tattoo (4 months ago)
French style for me is really neutral, sometimes a little red or burgundy. Minimal make up, but red lips. It's actually quite easy once you get it.
fofiax (1 month ago)
Yes. A little tousled effortless hair, nice tailored chic clothing with minimal jewelry and minimal makeup that suits your own unique face. I find it easier to live this way

+Brianna Lamberson These are some great suggestions. Jeans is totally ok. But maybe I'll go for the full lumberjack look with a flanell and some 90s grunge to it =D Absolutely need to step up my red lipstick game :) great suggestion. Never thought of a tinted lipbalm. So easy :)
Brianna Lamberson (4 months ago)
Hi Tiffy! I love that you work with wood! Do you enjoy wearing jeans when you work? Or maybe carpenter pants? Those are very stylish. You can go more towards the rustic yet chic side of things if that's something you could see yourself doing. I think looking good and stylish doesn't mean you have to look dressed up per se. Only that you're investing in pieces you love and that have a certain charm to them. I almost never wear high heels but when I do, it's a low heel that's very comfortable. And maybe instead of red lipstick, you could go for a nice quality lip balm or lip tint? What do you think? Talk soon, Bri

Beautiful philosophy..,, And takes tuning out all the ads telling us we are not ok just as we are without their ‘products’ from $80 wrinkle cream to false eyelashes...yuck.

Hi babe! All this being said, rules are made to be broken from time to time. You can’t exactly boil this down to a formula, but you can observe what French women do and try to organically adopt some of these rules for yourself. What do you think about French style? How could you incorporate some of these French philosophies into your life? XO, Bri
