Jane Birkin is English (ethnically, and she was brought up in England)

Jane Birkin is English!
A G (15 hours ago)
Yes, but she was attached to Serge Gainsbourg, settled down in France and she became a true French fashion icon.

I see that you have on makeup...cheeks, lips, mascara and glowing skin underneath...for me that is the loveliest look of all. I also liked your shoes...flats but they are pretty. What I see on videos of people on the street though and sitting in cafes, French women, I am sorry but I am not impressed. Completely NO makeup on skin no features looking their best and all black or dark colorless clothing (grey etc) is very draining on skin over 35...in winter one looks sick. I went through the phase of not any makeup whatsoever in my 20's....when I see photos of me then I cringe as I look like I had cancer. A touch of makeup, NOT piled on like too many American women and British girls do this too to go out at night. Also too much bling in clothing... I think both extremes of nothing at all as was popular when I was young in the 60's and today's overdone look in the US are not as nice as your look...a much prettier look....
Brianna Lamberson (5 days ago)
Oh, thank you, Sybil! Yes, I hear you. There is a fine balance of natural yet no totally undone. And you're very kind. I think my background in holistic health has led me to believe in simple but luscious makeup that doesn't harm the skin! Any makeup tips you'd like to share with us? XO, Bri

I'm French and there is a saying about makeup ' people should say that YOU are beautiful not that your makeup is beautiful'
Brianna Lamberson (5 days ago)
Totally agree with you Raquel and Garance! <3
Brianna Lamberson (5 days ago)
You totally made me smile! Thank you for sharing that saying. <3
Garance Mirgaine (6 days ago)
That's exactly the French mentality when it comes to makeup
raquel (8 days ago)
Je suis d'accord! That's a beautiful way to think about it. There seems to be a disconnect between makeup and the person wearing it, because I once saw a comment on a different video that said someone admired a women's makeup and how great it looked, but they didn't even notice the woman herself, just her makeup. I thought that was very strange!

Very nice reflection. It's worth sharing. I wonder why they use mascara (make up) if it is messy for the cloth and face.
cloud y (1 month ago)
+Brianna Lamberson thank you!
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Interesting take on things. I highly recommend an all organic, all natural make-up and skin care routine. I've been using natural and organic products since I was 22. I'll be 34 next week and I feel better than ever, my skin is more healthy and I feel strong. Castor oil is great for regrowing lost hair and eye lashes. XO, Bri

+Brianna Lamberson I used to take time for make up and besides I was good at arts, but then I realised that my eyelashes seemed to fall and the skin dried. Now I invest in special soap, cleaner and cream. The human body is very delicate, specially when we become adults.
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Oh thank you Miss Cloud ;-) Glad you're here. I use mascara almost daily, it's easy to take off when it's a natural water-based formula. Do you use mascara?

Marie (1 month ago)
Hello, I am from Holland but I've been living in France now for 40 years and I became a real French woman, as you I was a Francophile so I went to Paris in 1978 as an au pair girl and I decided to stay in France ! I'll never regret ! Sorry for my bad English ! Many kind greetings from Brittany ( Bretagne! ) Marie :-)
Marie (1 month ago)
+Brianna Lamberson : No women at that time were elegant , we wore trousers with elegant "blouses" and elegant sweaters, no shocking colours, very long hair, I wore often the "Audrey Hepburn" style which I adored (and I still do ) skirts just under the knees with black stockings and ballerinas ..... sexy elegant !!!!!!
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Hi Marie! You're a woman after my own heart. I'm very jealous that you were in Paris in the 70's. What was the fashion like at that time? Did women dress like Diana Ross and Jane Birkin? Your English is great. No apologies needed! Bisous, Bri

I am a french girl 💋

Alas, not all of us are as blessed as you! ;-) I'm even more honored that you're here. Do you think Americans have a narrow view of French style? I wonder about that sometimes. Thanks for being here, Bri
Tiffy Tattoo (2 months ago)
French style for me is really neutral, sometimes a little red or burgundy. Minimal make up, but red lips. It's actually quite easy once you get it.
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
+Tiffy Tattoo haha you are too cute! Find me on Instagram so you can share some pics with me!

+Brianna Lamberson These are some great suggestions. Jeans is totally ok. But maybe I'll go for the full lumberjack look with a flanell and some 90s grunge to it =D Absolutely need to step up my red lipstick game :) great suggestion. Never thought of a tinted lipbalm. So easy :)
Brianna Lamberson (1 month ago)
Hi Tiffy! I love that you work with wood! Do you enjoy wearing jeans when you work? Or maybe carpenter pants? Those are very stylish. You can go more towards the rustic yet chic side of things if that's something you could see yourself doing. I think looking good and stylish doesn't mean you have to look dressed up per se. Only that you're investing in pieces you love and that have a certain charm to them. I almost never wear high heels but when I do, it's a low heel that's very comfortable. And maybe instead of red lipstick, you could go for a nice quality lip balm or lip tint? What do you think? Talk soon, Bri
Tiffy Tattoo (2 months ago)
+Brianna Lamberson Happy New Year :) may all your dreams come true and the high heels be painless!
Tiffy Tattoo (2 months ago)
+Brianna Lamberson My biggest style trouble are trousers and shoes. Trousers: Fancy, high quality: Bad for work (I work with wood). The other way around not so stylish. Shoes the same. I slip out of ballerina flats, and with my size 43/44 I almost have elephant feet. I guess I should invest in loafers. Not to mention there's no way I'd go long distances in high heels. Stylish - yes. Pain free - not so much. Oh and checking red lipstick throughout the day. I always have something weird going on like "well, that was embarrassing for at least an hour" =D

French women don't eat croissants and drink wine all day either, lol. It's all about quality and everything in moderation:)

Kerry Watson oh neato! Me too. Total Francophile over here. Are you familiar with the YouTube channel Not Even French?
Kerry Watson (3 months ago)
Brianna Lamberson no story worth telling! I just have a weird attraction to French culture, although I am a New Zealander:) I love the simplicity and down to earth French way. I have French ancestors but sadly I have to work at it. Haha. Keep up the good work with your channel.xx

Brianna Lamberson (7 months ago)
Hi babe! All this being said, rules are made to be broken from time to time. You can’t exactly boil this down to a formula, but you can observe what French women do and try to organically adopt some of these rules for yourself. What do you think about French style? How could you incorporate some of these French philosophies into your life? XO, Bri
