Ciao everyone! I put my curated slow fashion closet to the test by shopping my closet to recreate this French girl fall style look I found online. I loved how it made me transition my summer pieces to fall. I like how it turned out, but you tell me - was this a hit or a miss?
Thank you for watching! xx

Miss only because I didn’t like how the dress fell as a skirt. Your figure is so beautiful it was a bit disappointing that the look wasn’t flattering. In my humble opinion. You always look so chic and put together.
I wore a white sparkle sweater (light knit - it is still hot in Miami) over my red and white polka dotted dress with a red bandana scarf. Many complimented me on my "skirt". I wore gold sandals that are 1" heels.
I'm only just catching up on your videos after a few weeks (apologies!) and I love this outfit! I adore french girl chic, flowy skirts, ankle boots, and cute scarves--so yay! This was a total hit, I think. In fact I think you did it even better than the original. Congrats on your move! Hooray! What a great decision to live slower by cutting your commute. That's one of my and my partner's goals, too. :-)
Lisa Molinelli hi Lisa! No apologies necessary - I hope your past few weeks were great :) I'm so glad you liked this look! It was fun to do ... So far the shorter commute is going well :) hope you enjoy working toward your slower life goal too! :) Thank you so much for stopping by and watching! Have a great weekend xo
Definitely another hit. I love how you take these looks and make them your own. And yes, I'd love to see your furniture shopping adventures. As someone who has mostly second hand gifted/borrowed furniture at the moment, I would find it interesting to see how you go about curating your home like you do your closet.
Just getting y slow fashion wardrobe started. I want it to be focussed on ‘french’ style. Please can you suggest who I should be following on Instagram to get ideas. Loving your new set up xx
Lynn Scholes hmmm great q ! Ines de la fressange and garance dore are awesome, I also really like look de pernille and Camille charriere (those two might be a little too fashion, but fun for getting creative) and I really like Audrey Coyne - she is American but has a beautiful classic sense of style :) have fun! And thank you for watching! xx
Another great video, Alyssa. I appreciate your approach to use and love what we already have. I'd love to know about the wine dress you're wearing in the video. Color is awesome. Would also love to see a video on best tips for wearing lace (skirts, tops, etc) in different seasons. I love lace and have a many pieces in my closet. I don't always know how to combine with other fabrics. Thx!
Definitely a hit. And, you gave me an idea how to style two polka dot dresses. One is navy and the other red. Your video has made this possible for me to have some fun to dress up in Parisian Chic. Looking forward to future ideas like this one for you to post.
hi Alyssa, I liked the scarf, and dress, maybe it was the boot colour that didn't work for me. I wonder if you could have used a little pair if Mary Jane shoes, in black, and worn a pair of blue socks, or tights with them. I think I was looking for colour and brightness repeating from the scarf. Would that work?
Crystal Healings hmmm the boots seem to be a tough one for some and looking back I think a metallic shoe would have done a nice job too ... I don't think it's an absolute must for the scarf and shoes to match but I like where you're going with the sock/shoe combo! Thanks for the ideas and for watching! xx
This is a HIT! You captured the feel and the biggest visual element, the polka dots. To make it a touch more feminine, how about rolling the sleeves up to 3/4 length? Thanks for another fun styling video!😊👍
Call me crazy, but I would have loved to see your inspiration outfit girl with red shoes, instead of pink. Loved your recreation Alyssa, and would love to see how you style your home. Bring it on!
Found myself in the closet last week in the grips of fear over trying to dress for a work situation. I finally said to myself, “Look Alyssa would find all sorts of outfits in here, you can too.” So I managed to style something completely different using what I had, and felt really good in it too. So thanks for the boost of style inspiration Alyssa!
Your outfit deconstruction talks are sooo helpful!! You have helped me think so differently about what is in my own closet and what I add to it along the way...would enjoy hearing about your home decoration process with your perspective and spin...thanks for being awesome and btw...you are so cute! :)🦋
I love this kind of videos, cause you make us realize that we can take advantage of our closet much more than we actually do. You've given me tons of ideas so far. Please, keep focusing on fashion, which is what I need the most in this stage of my life, turning 46, and dacing lots of changes. Thank you so much. We missed you. Xxx
Alyssa Beltempo yasssss congratulations! Here’s to the next 20,000 💫 I always look forward to your videos, thank you for all the hard work and creativity you put into them. I always tell my friends about your channel when they ask about clothes styling ideas 😘 xx
I saw a fashion woman from Paris talk about Parisian style. She said they wear lots of black and white with a pop of color. So I put on a pair of black pants a white blouse a black blazer rolled up the sleeves with the white shirt sleeves rolled up then I put a pop! My pop was leap oars shoes! I went out to do errands and received so many compliments! I thought I would share that darling
Hit or miss? Your Shop Your Closet videos are always a hit! So always more of these but all the others you mentioned would be interesting and no doubt inspiring. We are into Spring now so I'm also revisiting your Spring and Summer themed posts!
K Mejia haha ok got it! Will show the progress as we furnish :) the boots seemed to be tough for some - I don't own gold shoes lol but my metallic pair would have been a great choice - thanks for the suggestion!
Of all the ones you done before in this series, I would not say this was as good as but it was still in the ball park. Think maybe if you had pushed up the sleeves, lighter booties and stuck with the red pattern scarf? (your version was kind of dark) I enjoyed the video and thanks for sharing your thought process with us.
Denise Oates thank you for watching Denise! I think the boots really changed the look - another viewer commented that metallic oxfords could have worked and I definitely agree! So glad you still liked the video :) thanks for watching!
Loved it as usual ! As a French woman myself, I really would like to know what you find « French » in this outfit. Not a joke : maybe it is obvious to you, as a non-French woman, but not to me, and I sincerely am interested 😊
Véronique JULIENNE oh yes I understand what you're saying... Yes I think you would definitely see this in NYC as well because there are so many different styles there ... Yes please I want to make sure I understand the basic elements of French style!
Alyssa Beltempo, I like your answer, because, to me, it shows that cultural differences are not something obvious or easy to define. To me, this look looks quite usual around here, in France, it is true, but I would have imagined it to be as well from another country. I quite often go to NYC ( next November, for instance !), and I have the feeling I see girls dressed like that there, but it also is true that this city is not « typically » American, I mean it is special. Would be delighted if I could help you in this project ... if I am able 😉 I am not « qualified » in fashion, only interested. But if you think I could help you, I think it would be very funny for both of us, and ... I like fun projects ! 😊
Véronique JULIENNE hi Veronique!! Ooo your perspective is so interesting and I appreciate the question - I found the use of neutrals in black and white with a small pop of colour, the classic polka dot print and her natural hair to be the "French" elements of this look. I'd love to know what your thoughts are on what the typical french elementsof style are! :) Maybe help me do a video about it? :) Merci! xx
You nailed it! I thought you were going to grab your metallic oxfords, but the booties work great. Congrats on your new place, blessings for your new home.
Just took a moment to send you great energy for an increase of subscribers, you deserve an explosion of growth! 😍👏🙏🏻
Victoria F. Hi Victoria! Oh my goodness the metallic oxfords would have totally worked - I think I prefer those better than the booties! Haha thanks for yhe thought and wonderful vibes - so appreciate your support and you watching! xx
Alyssa Beltempo I always watch your videos. You are my favourite YouTuber.Kind, friendly, cheerful,”close “(I mean close to followers -I hope to express myself properly )Looking forward to watch a New one today.😉😘
Love the way you analyse looks for these 'shop your closet' videos! I constantly get obsessed with specific aspects of items in an outfit (e.g. a beautiful print, or certain small details in an item like the shape of the hem) and forget to look at things holistically like you do. These are a great reminder of what I should do. Thank you!
Oh Alyssa. Love your take on this outfit. I have a similar scarf, believe it or not. Yes I would love a shopping video. No need to stick strictly to fashion. I'm happy with whatever you would like to put together for us. Cheers have a great week. Bev xx
the vase is nice but makes me nervous, when you stretch your arms around. I like your copy of this style but not enough contrast with the scarf, red would be best with red boots? I like to put a sweater over a dress during summer but when fall comes around I put all my summer dresses away because I crave jeans and sweaters with boots and jackets, thanks from Alberta.
Michelle Guevremont hi Michelle, thanks for the suggestion - there are lots of combos that could work and yes, red would have been awesome! I didn't have a red scarf but could have def used my red flats ... Always fun to get other ideas :) thanks so much for watching xx
Love to see more stuff like this as I was absolutly sure I didnt have Anything to match this look and then I started to Think after you did your example and realised I had several things I could use for a similar or even with a wider skirt going from french to an almost western look with a few tweaks ... Very interesting and of course would love to see if you want to show us how you would Think and feel for getting stuff ,thrifted or not , for the new place as well as perhaps an imaginary place ( Ps beware of pests in soft furnishing especially if you are looking for that second hand - after living in Paris for a while I realised that Sweden with our previous cold temperatures have had it easy until Now )
Hi Anna! Thank you so much for watching, i loved reading your interpretation of the look and i'm sure you looked fab in it :) THANK YOU for the tip about soft furnishing ... I've kept most textile purchases first hand and have been seeking secondhand items for wood products etc. A great tip that I greatly appreciate! Thank you for watching and I hope you have a great week! xx
I ❤ your shop your closet videos!
I really like the burgundy long sleeved sheath dress. I saw it in a video you did last winter and I've been looking for one myself. Any ideas where I can find one? I live in the northern USA- Minnesota. Thanks! Mara H
Hi Mara! So glad you like these videos! My dress is several seasons old but I found this one -
http://bit.ly/2CMajCX - it has different sleeves and neckline but similar silhouette ... really quite beautiful with a more feminine appeal ... I hope this helps!
Alyssa, another gorgeous outfit. A huge hit, as always! Best of luck with your new home - please keep us posted on your settling in and decorating process. It will be fun, and.... 19K is not bad at all, eh? It's going to snowball from here xoxo
